Hytale Death Mechanics Guide
What happens when you die and how to safely recover your items.
Important: All items drop on death! Set up a bed near dangerous areas and store valuables in chests before risky exploration.
What Happens When You Die
Item Drop
All items in your inventory drop at your death location. Your hotbar items and equipped gear also drop.
Death Marker
A marker appears on your map showing where you died. Use this to navigate back to your corpse.
Corpse Run
You respawn at your bed or world spawn. Travel back to your death location to recover items.

Death FAQ
Do items despawn?
Items persist for a limited time. Return to your death location as soon as possible. The death marker helps you find them.
Where do I respawn?
At your bed if you've set one, otherwise at world spawn (Gate of the Echo). Always set a bed before dangerous exploration!
Should I bring backup gear for corpse runs?
Yes! Keep a spare weapon and some food in a chest near your bed. You may need to fight through enemies to recover your main gear.
