Hytale Repair Calculator
Calculate durability loss after multiple repairs and find the optimal time to replace your equipment.
Why this matters: In Hytale, each repair permanently reduces your item's maximum durability by 10%. After several repairs, your equipment becomes inefficient. This calculator helps you decide when to craft new gear instead of repairing.
Repair Penalty Formula
New Max = Current Max × 0.9
Each repair permanently reduces maximum durability by 10%

Repair Strategy Tips
- • Replace at 5-6 repairs (~59% max) for best efficiency
- • High-tier items (Mythril+) can be repaired more due to material cost
- • Low-tier items (Crude, Copper) - just craft new ones
- • Repair Kit Recipe: 2 Linen Scraps + 1 Iron + 1 Light Leather
Understanding Hytale's Repair System
How Repair Works
When you repair an item using a Repair Kit, its current durability is restored to its maximum. However, that maximum is permanently reduced by 10%.
A fresh item starts at 100% max durability. After one repair, max becomes 90%. After two repairs, 81%, and so on.
The Math
- • 0 repairs: 100% max durability
- • 3 repairs: 72.9% max durability
- • 5 repairs: 59.0% max durability
- • 7 repairs: 47.8% max durability
Repair Calculator FAQ
When should I replace instead of repair?
Generally, replace items when max durability drops below 60% (after 5-6 repairs). For low-tier items like Crude or Copper tools, replace even earlier since materials are cheap.
Where do I get Repair Kits?
Craft Repair Kits at a Blacksmith Anvil using 2 Linen Scraps + 1 Iron Ingot + 1 Light Leather. Linen Scraps are often the bottleneck material.
Does repair tier matter?
No, one Repair Kit works on any item regardless of tier. The 10% penalty is always the same. Higher-tier items are worth more repairs due to expensive crafting costs.
